About OQLThe Online Quidditch League is a very fast RPG game that was created in 2002 and first played in 2003. It consists of mainly pure speed typing, but it takes strategy as well. There are usually three main leagues each year: Spring, Summer, and Winter, with a few small mini-leagues in between, including tournaments. The OQL takes place on our IRC chat and uses IRC-scripted programs to run. OQL is directly based off of Quidditch from JK Rowling's Harry Potter series, with a few added twists to make it fit the limitations of IRC. There are currently three teams in each league, each one consisting of seven players plus reserves, like a regular Quidditch team. Players can play from anywhere in the world, and currently we have players from the United States, Canada, different parts of Europe, different parts of Asia, and even Australia! The teams pit against each other in games to determine which two teams will be going to the Cup. Words alone won't help you understand the game, so you'll have to actually go to a game and experience the hype, ferocity, and speed of OQL to see why so many people love it.
